Channing Tatum played as "Pretty Boy" Floyd in the film which is about American Bank robbers, Public Enemies

On this day October 22nd, 1934, the infamous American Depression-era bank robber “Pretty boy” Floyd was shot and killed by the agents of the FBI.

Although named Public enemy No. 1, Floyd was often seen as a tragic figure and a victim of hard times. Like many of the contemporary outlaws, Floyd and his life story were highly romanticized by society and popular culture. Songs and films were made in remembrance of the outlaws, often highlighting their bravado and generosity.

The death of “Pretty Boy” Floyd signified a transition away from the dynasty of outlaws in the Depression-era and also America’s effort to fight organized crimes. Such effort is represented in the establishment of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
