Following off of Ms. Andrea Paquette’s touching presentation on mental health last month, and its previous one-hour Wednesday sessions in past school years, St. George’s School has yet again affirmed its level of dedication in the topic of X-Blocks, with UBC President Santa J. Ono’s latest visit 4th period in the Dixon Gym.

Prior to his appointment to President at one of the “world’s most elite institution in the world” earlier in 2016, Santa Ono has worked at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, University College, and Emory University as a professor of medicine and biology.

A perhaps unconventional figure, UBC President Santa J. Ono just recently crowd-surfed at a homecoming event

Dr. Ono spoke, and out came a deep, assuring tone. It told jokes which brought down the house; he promised rewards for those who followed him on Twitter. It grew serious in the topic of university planning – told jokes again – and ended on a note of humility. This was, of course, made possible partly by the student body’s attention and cooperation.

“I want to be a resource for you”, said President Ono, on the purpose of his visit, “about not only UBC, but also university admissions in general.”

Relevant information, respectable speaker, and orderly organization once again left the St. George’s community with two things: A positive attitude towards X-blocks, and a high-expectation for future sessions down the road.
