On February 17-19, 2017, The National Basketball Association (NBA) held the annual All-Star Weekend. This year it was supposed to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, the event was switched to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana. All-Star Weekend is an event owned by the NBA that consists of league’s best players. Events at this weekend include the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, the NBA D-League All-Star Game, the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, the JBL Three-Point Contest, Verizon Slam Dunk, and the 66th NBA All-Star Game.
The 66th NBA All-Star game concluded with the Western Conference defeating the Eastern Conference 192 to 182. The leading scorer for the Western Conference was Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans who recorded an NBA All-Star game record of 52 points. Davis, who also added 10 rebounds, scored 20 points in the fourth quarter claimed MVP of the All-Star game, breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 42 points in 1962. Giannis Antetokounmpo, of the Eastern Conference, lead the East with 30 points. The West has now won six of the last seven All-Star games.
